getting fit and taking gains

I’m Cassie and somehow you found me. I’m a lazy blogger so if you expect to see new content on the daily you’ll quickly become annoyed and unfollow me. Meh.

My Crossfit story and dedication to fitness is like a sine wave, it has it’s ups and downs. Once upon a time I was one of those annoying people who lived and breathed Crossfit. I was convinced everybody I knew should do it and I never shut up about it. I got my L1, did a mud run, and bought all the sassy tank tops. That high was followed by a major overuse injury and the long recovery that followed. Eventually I set up a home gym and focused on technique rather than the whiteboard, surpassing my former fitness level. Then, while TDY in VA for work, I joined Crossfit Krypton (home of Ben Smith, 2015 Open winner), which was the peak of my athleticism. While I didn’t suffer any injuries that high was followed by a precipitous drop when I returned home and the demands of life outside the gym took over. Here I go again!

I eat paleo because it just makes sense for me. I am allergic to eggs and dairy products (casein, not lactose) which made it pretty easy to turn my eating habits into paleo. Plus I’m an emotional eater so eating unlimited veggies is a lot better for me than unlimited cookies, even if they are gluten-free. I still struggle with beer, especially since gluten-free beer just kinda sucks.

In real life I work full-time and am a crazy dog person. I have two Border Terriers, Wally and Ava, and breed the occasional litter. Ava came out of my first litter and she’s my Little Noodle, I lurv her. Wally is my soul dog and his handsome face makes my heart explode several times a day. We show in AKC conformation and obedience train in Seattle. I’m hoping to do therapy dog work with them in the future. You can find out more about them at Audacious Border Terriers.
